Coordinator of Network Development for Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center
Sandra Arellano is the Coordinator of Network Development for Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, she joined Advocate Healthcare in 2005 – present. Her responsibilities include the community outreach efforts of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for their primary and secondary service areas which include the communities throughout the Northeast, Northwest, West and South of Chicago. Ms. Arellano, works the senior market and coordinates health education, patient navigation and community resources for senior housing and senior centers she also assists families who are need of healthcare resources and/or need an understanding of the affordable healthcare program. Overall, she’s a connector of healthcare and community resources for the areas she serves.
In addition, she has spent 25 years volunteering and serving communities throughout the Northeast side of Chicago in the areas of affordable housing and healthcare. Prior to her transitioning to healthcare community services she worked for Jane Addams Hull House for 17 years managing public housing for the Chicago Housing Authority as Senior Property Manager of Senior Housing and Scattered Site Housing for families.
In 2006 she joined the Board of Directors at Centro Romero an organization that serves the needs of Latino refugees and immigrants on the northeast side of Chicago in the communities of Edgewater, Uptown and Rogers Park and Chicagoland area. In 2011, she was elected Board President and currently still serves as the Board President overseeing an annual budget of $1.3 million and providing services to those with the fewest options which covers over 11,000 families.
In 2003-2007, she served as a board member for the Northside Community Credit Union in the Uptown community area. Under her term she assisted in developing programs and services which included financial literacy, predatory lending education, and 1st time home buyer’s programs and participate in outreach and marketing as well as collaborations with other agencies like Centro Romero, with the New American Loan program.
Ms. Arellano received her A.A. in Liberal Arts and Sciences from St. Augustine College, Chicago Campus. She has been recognized by her peers for her dedication and work in the development of programs and participation in councils such as ALAS-Wings a Latina Cancer Support Program at Advocate Illinois Masonic and other organizations throughout Chicago, City of Chicago’s Senior Northeast Provider’s Council, City of Chicago Wellness Task Force for Seniors, CHA Health, Wellness Program for Seniors and Age Options Take Charge of Your Health Program facilitator.
